So here’s a more in depth recap of Day 1 of filming for Season 2.
(After getting a full night of sleep some of the details of what just happened are a bit clearer).
We filmed a TON. We knocked a huge 3 page scene for the final episode and got four other big scenes done and some extra footage. It’s always a bit intimidating starting with a scene from the final episode because it’s usually a pretty big and important scene (and it was) but it went beautifully - we got a ton of great stuff.
Kathy McCafferty and I got to do some fun elevator work with a steady cam so that was cool to work on. And we got lucky that yesterday was a sunny day and we had tons of natural light pouring in to our location.
Working on Season 1, Leigh and I learned a lot by being so hands on and wearing so many hats and that experience is not something that we can push aside.
Working with a bigger team this season is such a different and wonderful change. To have more people who already know what they’re doing and who do an extraordinary job means that we can really concentrate on being actors and doing the story justice. And my god - we are so lucky to be working with such a talented cast. I can’t wait to get a trailer out because there’s no other way for me to express how excited I am about the work that is happening other than us just gushing about it. I want to be able to show you guys how freaking talented our cast and crew are! It’s going to look and sound fucking gorgeous.
And the energy on set yesterday - everyone was so invested in the story and focused on the task at hand. We stayed on schedule the whole day and actually finished early - if you can believe it.
Our director Jessica Solce did an amazing job leading us through the day. This season is definitely in good hands with Jessica at the helm.
Team Biscuit - made up Patrick and John - were our DPs for the day. Wowza. They were so on top of things and we got some beautiful shots.
(From left to right: Patrick, Jessica, John and Leigh talking about the set up for a shot)
Michael Nixon, our producer, kept us on task the whole day and chimed in to make sure we always got one more for safety (and made sure we weren’t breaking any copyright laws).
Leah Teplin - our awesome AD has made life so much easier by taking care of all the scheduling and helping keep Jessica sane.
Arlonzo Brown - our sound guy (we have a sound guy this season y’all!!!) is amazing and it’s going to make such a difference for our production quality.
And a big thanks to our PAs- Jared Rosenthal and Ashley Hardee for being our extra hands on set.
There certainly were a lot of final crunch moments last week leading up to Sunday, but my goodness - by the end of the day all of that worry went completely out of my head and all I could do was gush about how well the day went.
Next weekend we’re on to filming some big romantic scenes and another hefty scene from the final episode. Can’t hardly wait!
